Since I bought my first SLR in March 2007 (a Samsung GX10 DSLR), my approach to photography has evolved quite a bit.
I've become less interested in 'pure' photography - by this I mean the art of getting a shot right without post-production techniques - and more interested in 'digital imaging."
However, whilst I don't class my work as 'photography' per se (instead I see them more as 'photo based images') I still have much admiration for those photographers who can take a shot without applying post-production techniques. Probably because I find it so hard myself!

Hey! sorry it's taken so long, Thank you so much for the advice i love it anytime. I actually was trying to figure out what was wrong with that picture so i'm glad you helped me see! Also, i have my own business in my area and i do portraits, weddings and other various things, i prefer to shoot people then anything else and if i had my choice I'd JUST shoot children nothing else no weddings or anything i just feel like they have so much more to say and they are so much more open. So to answer your question (after a long winded explanation) yes photography is my profession.

Great reflections - did you use any filters to acheive this?
The only filter i used for this shot is UV only.. The settings are f/8 ISO 200. WB i set it alittle blue and did alittle saturation and brightness control. Hope u enjoy the shot...Still in the learning process

These are the best shots I've seen from you in ages - quite different to your usual style I think? Can easily see these in a magazine, or on some cool record sleeve. Nicely done :-)
Awwww, thanks :)

Oooh - I love 2 and 3! I want a Nikon now! My Samsung GX10 just seems to produce really faded images :(
Regarding #17 - I think that perhaps the word you're looking for is "vignetting" ?
hey thanks for your comments (substantial comments are so rare on blogs!) and for the assistance with terminology - the term is vignette indeed:)
Weird that the samsung is not performing well, it is the same class as the nikon40, isn't it? Maybe it's the lense, or maybe it wants special settings for poor lighting? I've the same problem with my little fuji finepix actually, it's great when the sun is shining but it does not get green shades well, and when it's not very sunny the photos come out grainy. The nikon was really a blessing when I did wedding photography this weekend (even though it did not rain in Wales!). Still, I'm a fan of Canons. The photos they make have this unique pastel tint to them that I haven't seen with any other camera!

Actually - I've had the same problem when it comes to comments on my blog. When I first started, I seemed to get a lot of comments - which increased my comments and made me want to post more. Then, I remember distinctly posting photo that I was extremely proud of, and didn't get any comments at ...
Hello thank you for your vote of confidence, it is good to know that i am not the only one who goes through this 'crisis of confidence' it is hard when it hits because you want to take better photos, but it seems really hard maybe it is the time of year, the weather, how busy i am or the site who knows.
i appriciate you comments, thank you.

Not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said! But absolutely brilliant. I'm adding these to my favourites! May have already asked you this before, but what camera/lens do you use?
Thank you very much! : )
I use a Konika Minolta 7D, in this with a Sony 100mm 2.8 Macro.
There's the full list of the lenses I use in my profile.
Take care!

Just come across this set when browsing through the 'old' category. Great candid shots - I'm terrible at doing portraits, so it helps me appreciate all the more how difficult it is to produce a good one. I especially like the use of natural light - did you use a flash at all?
Shelburt :)
Thanks for dropping by! Portrait photography is a wonderful challenge and there are different approaches to it if you know the person or if you don't.
No flash at all here... (this sounds so David Cardona! :)))

I love orchids - you've done a great job with these. How did you get the dark background?
Thank you. I used some black card and then edited them slightly to get the black really black...
