17 international volunteers demonstrated on 18 Spetember 2005 that they care about Christchurch by Clean Up Avon Riverbank, 140kgs (19 bags) rubbish picked up including beer bottles, plastic bags, cigarette butts and package papers.
The local annual volunteer event was organsied by 2Ways Company Limited who specilizes in tailoring study and tour packages in Christchurch, New Zealand for Catalan, Spanish and Chinese clients. It's a part of the global environmental campaign Clean Up The World.

Andrew Smith, a doctor of Christchurch Hospital and Nora Fukuda, a Japanese international student even watered themselves with fishing clothing to pick up waste in Avon River.
