Catalan teachers planted New Zealand native plants as part of 2Ways Aoteaora English and Culture Program in Christchurch on 13 July 2007.

Tree planting partially offset the green house gas emission caused by the 12,000km flight to Christchurch, New Zealand from Catalonia, Spain. "Each tree planted provides oxygen for two people for the rest of their lives."
