Shave Your Lid for a Kid 2008-Christchurch,NZ

2008.12.04
WHAT?
Why are there so many smiling faces in Christchurch Cathedral on Thursday, 4 December 2008?

Funrasor is the annual event organised by Child Cancer Foundation on the first Friday in December, full of generosity, creativity, participation, fun, support to the community...that's Kiwiana, the unique spirit of New Zealanders.

Christchurch, one of 22 nationwide shave stations in 2008, the home of funrazor boasts the brave Kiwis to sign-up and make a NZ$20 (or more!) to assist children and families that need to travel to receive cancer treatment.

Comparing NZ$115,000 in 2007, Christchurch shave station raised only NZ$80,000 in 2008. Shall we blame the financial bad weather?

The colourful ballons fly away with Canterburians' best wishes and hope for cancer children.

Are you brave enough to step on the stage and get rid of your locks?

Not only adults, Kiwi kids are brave enough to have their heads shaved just for other kids who are fighting cancer.

The family of 3 (the second, third and fourth person from the left) raised NZ$1,300 by riding motorbike to Christchurch from Marlborough.

painful? not really...

a COOL family

Ferris Family - mum, dad and 4 sons go under the razor together to support one of their family members who is suffering cancer.

A complimentary photo is taken by a local photo studio after head shaved.

A backpacker steps on the stage three hours before flying back to USA.

Can his mum or girlfriend recognise him without long hair?

have a fun

The local dance group - Latin Dance bring passion to the participants and audiences.

As a member of public, you may help through purchasing a badge...

...or a T-shirt

A Teddy Bear donated by a member of public is under auction for fundraising.

After head shaved, you may have your head painted like this: a bright smiling face...

BALD

the coolest way to get through this summer - got your lids shaved

The painted ferns on shaved heads draw a clear picture of the kiwi identity.

It is wise to ask a friend to take a close shot after head shaved.

The beauty of generosity from inside turns into the charming outlooking.

You possibly gain a sense of giving and hope for the cancer children by losing your hair.
