The train crosses the Canterbury Plains and farmland, followed by the spectacular gorges and river valleys of the Waimakariri River.

An open air viewing carriage allows you to take photos of the stunning scenery if you are well equipped with windproof and rainproof gear.

Visitors were welcomed by wind, rain, hail and sunshine when the train had a 5-minute stop at Arthurs Pass National Park railway station.

It's absolutely worth of jumping off the train and getting onto one of the stunning tracks in the Southern Alps.

Keas, the alpine mountain parrots found only in New Zealand's South Island, always walk, run or fly towards visitors at Arthurs Pass National Park railway station - not just for greetings and plays. Food is what they look after.

No rain, no rainbows! Never blame rain on your holiday in New Zealand.

In Moana, you may have an afternoon tea in Stationhouse Cafe or take trout fishing tour in Lake Brunner .

The train departs Greymouth daily at 12:45pm if no delay caused by bad weather or lack of train control signal.

Wall drawings/paitings of train can be easily found in Greymouth town centre.
Train still plays important role of Greymouth's economy in 21st centry - delivering coal from west coast to Christchurch Lyttleton Harbour for export to Europe.
