Day of Remembrance!

2007.09.11
Always Remember!

“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” George Santayana

This philosopher died before I was born, but he offers advice to all who warily remember, September 11, 2001...

Lest Photobloggers the world over think that this is merely a day of remembrance for Americans only, let me voice compassion for all who have lost loved ones due to uncontrolled tyranny.

We remember Konzentrationslager Auschwitz! We remember Tiananmen Square! We remember Apartheid! We remember Nero's Rome and some of the earliest Christian martyrdom!

"All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Edmund Burke, English statesman and political philosopher (1729-1797)

History is replete with myriad cases of Man's inhumanity to Man from Able's first blood to the return of the Prince of Peace at the Valley of Armaggedon!

Therefore, the attacks on the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York Center on this very day of the week (Tuesday) six years ago is but one sordid example among countless others that this is not a safe world.

Peace in this Life is at best transient. Yet for those who know that this Life is not intended to be the best, the ultimate Life, HOPE springs eternal as points of light shining through the shadows! :)

"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as you ever can."

John Wesley, evangelist and founder of Methodism (1703-1791)
