Crazy FUN & "Serious" Pull-Ups

2008.03.12

Have you ever had to create an environment that "looked real", but was in essence a faux finish?

Well, I am working on a continuing education in photography assignment in which I'm trying to give the impression of movement in a slightly dangerous situation, but trying to create a clear photograph without the "unpleasantness" of actual danger.

Shanna has figured out a way to look like she is exercising without the "unpleasantness" of actual pain in her forearms when she does pull-ups...

Hmmmm, I can still remember when "Pull-Ups" meant that it was just a little easier to change a diaper...O, Well, apparently, children DO grow up...too fast! :)

Carley I think I need to consult with Shanna on her method to exercise without the unpleasantness of exercising! That child is going to go far! This set looks like you two were having a great time!

777STAN You're right, Carley! She did look a little over-the-top, didn't she? On top of that I don't think I made my point very well.

The part to which I was referring was her pull-ups while still standing on the ground. (See #1 & #27-#30.) You know the old joke. Bend your knees, and squat. Stand up straight, and put your chin over the bar. Then repeat as needed.

That's not really a bad squat routine for beginners, but it's not nearly the exercise it was intended to be.

(Imagine a 200 lb. man, like me, pulling all that weight above the "chin-up" bar ten times using only the muscles of the arms. We're talkin' massive muscles! Move over, Ahnold! You've got some competition!) Right? :)
