Sydney admiring the formal dining arrangement. While we want for the tour of the mansion to begin

Checked out the serving kitchen -- the main kitchen is on the floor below!

Our tour guide is giving us an introduction to the Marland family and the mansion

8 burner gas stove!

Talk about a commercial size mixer -- this makes our Kitchen Aid look like a toy!

E.W. Marland commissioned 12 artists to submit a model for a statue honoring the pioneer woman. He gave each artist $10,000 for their submission. Pictures of the submissions.

Ponca is the home of Marland Oil which became Conoco. Marland was founded by E.W. Marland a quintessential wild catter who made and lost several fortunes. When he was flush with money he built his Marland Mansion which he lost when JP Morgan took over Marland Oil and formed Conoco.

The 4th of July is a three day holiday, so we started off having our own little fireworks display on the 3rd.
