Yesterday I was experimenting with my Speedlite 430EX. I've had it for a year and I hardly use it. Truthfully, I don't know how. So, I figure the time to learn what it can do is when I'm not counting on the results. Here are my comparisons for today.
People keep writing about the virtues of natural light. Yeah, natural light is great but flash was invented for a reason. Sometimes you just need it. I'd like to know how to use it before I'm in a situation where I need it and I don't know what I'm doing.

On-camera flashes bug the heck out of me. My favourite way to use the flash is outdoors as fill light. I also love to take the flash off camera and paint with it during a long exposure...
Flashes are necessary sometimes! I have to use mine EVERYTIME on my camera to get good pictures. I just need a better camera though! I love all of your pictures--you are a great photographer!
