I was playing around with manual mode yesterday - suffice it to say, I have a long, long way to go before I have manual photography mastered. I have a lot of respect for the photographers who had to learn all of the technical aspects of manual shooting when they were paying for practice film and developing. Not to mention, the time lapse for developing versus the immediate gratification to go to the computer and compare setting notes to results right away.
This was the best shot of my attempts at manual mode. We have three rose bushes in our backyard that I'm shocked to see alive. I have transplanted them from the front of the house, which I'm told is a risky proposition for the survival of a rose bush. Add to that the fact that they never get any attention or pest control. If I were trying to protect them, I'd kill them for sure. That's just the nature of my black thumb. They produce the most lovely colored roses though - when I'm in the yard to notice them!
That's the great thing about digital too, you can experiment to your hearts content and it doesn't cost a thing. Boy was it expensive when I was learning on manual cameras! Looking forward to more!
