Train Track

This is a picture of the train track that my two year old and my three year old built for themselves on my family room floor yesterday. I'm amazed at how in the last few months they have gone from straight lines of track that don't go anywhere to building circles to much more complicated systems.
I'm aware that this picture is not a good one. I was having a hard time getting my speedlite to light more than one section of the area while leaving another area virtually in the dark. So, I turned it off and set a long exposure with the available light. Part of why I'm doing this picture a day thing is just to learn what I can and can't do and get in some practice everyday. Some days will be lame. Sorry for that.

It's a nice slice of life. I'm sure it will bring a smile to your face when you look at it later, not only for what they've accomplished on that day and since, but for what you've accomplished in photography too! It's a great memory all around :)
I'm in the same boat as you! (I'm still waiting on my fancy non-point-and-shoot camera though so I can do more!) Becoming a expert photographer is all about trial and error. You already take fantastic pictures and we can see you getting better and better everyday :D
Did you happen to capture the tracks that they made before?
Hi, jwideman. I do have some pictures of them playing in the past that include the types of structures they were building. I didn't take pictures of just the tracks before though because I didn't really think about the growth that was taking place until after I'd seen it evolve to this level.
