Library Time

2007.07.18

Over the weekend, I enjoyed surfing around the library's on-line database. As I came across books that interested me, I requested them. Yesterday, they had all been pulled and were ready for me to pick up. I love this! It's like surfing around Amazon.com but it's free. And they even pull the books for me so all I have to do is walk in and show my card and walk out with my books. In this case, twenty two of them! I think I got a little carried away... oops. I wasn't keeping track of the titles that interested me and I just kept hitting "request item". Boy was I shocked to find 22 books waiting for me. Fortunately, they don't cost me a thing. The other beautiful thing about this is that I don't have to keep an eye on 3 very small noisy children while I'm strolling along the aisles of the library. And, I can drop them outside in the box from my car without having to unbuckle all three munchkins. I know you are thinking that there is no way I'm going to read all 22 of these books in the two weeks they're on loan to me. You are correct. But I can also renew them online endlessly (assuming no one else has requested them) from the comfort of my desk chair. Ah, I love conveniences like that!

Alas, I just checked and they don't have the book Understanding Exposure that dweiskir recommended yesterday. I'm actually going to have to order that one from Amazon. Still, a pretty cheap education in photography if you ask me! Thanks for the suggestion dweiskir. It appears to be highly recommended by all the other reviewers (280 of them!). I'm off to order it now.

jwideman Isn't it great that you can place holds on books online?? That feature got me through teaching last year! Have fun reading all of those. You'll have to show us what you learn.

vollenda You have a great mix there! I have a couple of John Hedgecoe's books. I like them. Enjoy your reading!

dweiskir Ah, a kindred spirit. Only I never avail myself of the library, opting instead to sink a large portion of my income into books about everything I find interesting. I really should check out more books. I would have more money for photo toys. :-)

????? Oh boy, how I envy you... I always got very 'jelous' when someone talk about how great their city library is.. Jakarta's library is a mess, we have to buy everything (and its expensive.. very much).. I once have fun when I visit berkeley and The Half Price Bookstore... I got overloaded bagage just because I bough 30 kilos of books! hahaha...
