Father Daughter Dance

We lost power here on Sunday for about 5 hours. Well, it was actually longer than that because it went out while I was taking a Sunday afternoon nap and it was out for 5 hours after I woke up. Our church was sponsoring the annual Father Daughter Valentines dance. Luckily they had generators! We were in a bit of a pickle though because the cars are actually parked in the garage and when the power goes out, the garage door opener doesn't work. Such a bummer having a clean organized garage you can actually park in... who ever heard of such a thing?! Yes, there is a latch that we could pull to get the thing open without power but we'd only use that for an emergency. Fortunately, our neighbor across the street was taking his two daughters and had room in his car to let hubby and daughter ride along.
The boys and I "enjoyed" our flashlight time at home. The quotes are because THEY enjoyed it a lot. Me - not so much. I couldn't believe how cold it got in this house and how quickly! I was snuggled under a heap of blankets when Hubby and Daughter returned home reporting on the fantastic time they had. Apparently Hubby found out one of his poker buddies goes to this thing every year, someone from a neighboring town drives out for it annually along with every father of a girl within a 5 house radius! He was happy to have guy friends to chat with while my daughter was running around doing girl stuff. I love to see them go on dates with each other. I think it's so healthy for her.
