Good Day at the Farm
2008.06.18
The farm has this huge mound of tires that the kids love to climb. They usually shout something like, "Hi, Mom!" or "I'm the KING!" when they get to the top. I love that I caught my girl looking so girly among the rustic tires.

You go girl. You can take that John Deere with the best of them, Baby!

I'm coming to realize that I love the texture of old rusted and used up tractors. They make some of my favorite pictures.

A hundred year old tree fell down during our last big tornado watch - rain storm a few weeks ago. I thought it would make a cool picture with my girl sitting on top with the sky as her backdrop. The breeze blowing through her hair was a bonus!

I have no idea what this pile of horseshoes and scrap metal is all about but I've always thought it would make an interesting photograph. I love the blue barn behind it for contrast!

While the kids were playing on the bouncy pillow, I looked across the pond and saw these three geese in front of this old house and thought it would make a cool photo. LOVE it BiG! Photoblog doesn't do it justice. (not griping - I love Photoblog.)

Here is the boy atop the tire mountain. Totally captured him this way with no direction from me. LOVE that!

Is there anything better than driving your own tractor when you are a boy?! It was so cute watching him try to reach the pedals and contort his face as he made all the tractor noises he could.

I just like the DOF and the way the wheel framed his face for this one.

Now it's my turn to stand atop the tire mountain and look across the farm to the vineyard across the street. Someday I'll make it to the vineyard and get some groovy photos from there!

Today was an excellent day. We started by taking the kids to get their haircut - which they love because it ends with a lollipop. Then I took them to McDonalds for lunch. It was just too nice outside to take them home after that so I took them to the farm for the afternoon. We had a grand time! These are my most favorite pictures on my first trip through proofing the over 1,000 pictures I took today with my new Canon 40D. Yes, you read that right, one thousand plus pictures in one day. And *then* I took the kids to the park while I waited for them all to upload to my computer! Ha. Enjoy!
