Looking for pictures around Vivocity

2011.10.14

Thank God it's Friday! I almost gave up my photo walk this week due to the amount of work from office. However I decided to press on for my love for photography and head down to Vivocity to have a short photo walk while waiting for my wifey. Besides it's a great way to destress!

Faced with an overcast sky, no low light and long shadows, I turn on my B&W eyes and look for lines, reflections and silhouettes.

#1 Relaxing the Friday evening away
Spotted these 3 teenagers just sitting in one corner and chill out together. Making use of the leading lines of the floor and the lines of the glass panels to frame them. The reflections added a nice touch.

#2 No Swimming
I wonder who can swim in such shallow waters anyway... The reflections provided a nice line reflections and the 'no swimming' breaks the pattern here.

#3 Warm Sunset
Not a fantastic sunset picture I know. Just want a record shot for the nice warm sunset feel of the moment that I'm enjoying as I'm walking along. Use the curvy lines to lead into the picture. Hmm...maybe time to re-consider the ultra wide lens again.

#4 Walking walking...
There are plenty of activity around this place, I wanted to capture a sense of the activities around but don't want a messy shot. Composing this picture by using of the reflections from the water feature and waited for the right moment to snap.

#5 Walking into the light
Personal fav in this series. Upon seeing this circular frame, I knew this would make a good frame for a picture and if I shoot into the light, I would be able to produce silhouettes. Rather than just normal silhouettes, I wanted to convey the story of the moment.

lismel The last one is also my favorite of this set. I also like the first picture, but there is one little thing bothering me about this image. On the right side of the photo, the line between the floor and the glass wall is to high (or too low). It cuts the image in two equal parts. Did you try not to cut the top of the building, the curved line ? In my opinion, it would have been more interesting if there was more floor and less glass, because not seeing the top of the building would have given the impression that it is bigger than it actually is, wouldn't it ? And the line of the wooden floor were quite enough to make the picture interesting. Well, that's only the way I feel of course !
