MANEKI-NEKO

El maneki-neko es quizá uno de los amuletos japoneses más conocidos fuera de las fronteras niponas. Literalmente “gato que invita a entrar”, el maneki-neko es un divertido gato blanco con una de sus patas, normalmente la izquierda, levantada a la altura de la oreja y con la palma hacia delante. En la otra mano tiene agarrada una moneda llamada koban y del cuello le cuelga un pequeño cascabel. La clave del maneki-neko es saber que el gesto que hace el gato es el gesto japonés para llamar a alguien y pedirle que se acerque a nosotros. Por ello, este gato es muy querido por los japoneses y es normal verlo en cualquier establecimiento o casa japonesa, ya que se cree que el gato llama a la prosperidad, la felicidad, el éxito, el dinero, mientras que el cascabel del cuello ahuyenta a los malos espíritus.

Es importante recalcar que existen gatos que saludan con la pata derecha, ya que en Japón se cree que esta es a pata que atrae el dinero y la fortuna, mientras que la izquierda atrae a los clientes y a la gente.
