Niomon gate at Mizusawa Kannon Temple

Hurry up! We're waiting!

Turning the pagoda.

Climbing up to the Tengu Shrine at Mizusawa Kannon

Pouring water on the stone frogs will bring you good fortune.

The bridge at the top of the hill in Ikaho with the onsen water in the stream below. High iron content gives the water its orange color.

Fall colors.

The spring's outlet. The surface of the water turns orange as the iron oxidizes. You can also taste the water here, but it's not so delicious (sour and metallic).

The outdoor onsen

Ikaho's stone steps at night.

After our sweet potato harvesting, we went to Mizusawa. The girls took us to the Mizusawa Kannon Temple and Shrine. Turning the two-storied pagoda three times around to the left is said to make you happy in the future. In Ikaho, the leaves were changing so the colors were very beautiful. We went to the outdoor onsen at the top of the hill, and then walked back down the famous stone stairway.
