We went with several friends to the opening day of the New Year's Sumo Basho on Sunday, Jan 13. Bad-boy wrestler Asashoryu is back from his two-tournament suspension for last season's soccer match shenanigans. The most exciting match was the close call between Kotooshu and Miyabiyama. The five judges had to enter the ring to discuss whether Miyabiyama touched the ground before Kotooshu stepped out of the ring. It was decided that the win went to Kotooshu.

After sumo, we went to Tokyo Dome Plaza to ride the roller coaster and finally had kaiten sushi before dinner before heading home to Gunma.
