Peche Not at all - the best thing about your blogs are the choices you've made in putting up your shots. I liked the mild confusion and then the instant clarity. It really made me appreciate the cleverness and creativity of the construct a lot more.

Ultimately, there's always something we could have done better, at some point, and we put that pressure on ourselves a lot, but that's definitely not the case with your post :)

Would love to see some shots of the Camaro :)

Beautiful in so many ways… I just love the subtle color and soft tones, and the really soft, low lighting. The quotes you chose, as well as the original poem… really tied it all together for me and made me look closer.

There’s such a deep, almost somber, feeli...
Firstly, Amy, thank you so much for your comment. The fact that you took such time and effort in your words means a lot to me.

I’m pleased that you like the lighting. I wanted it to be almost mute, very neutral, so that the focus wasn’t on my face, so much, but on the feeling of the shots. It’s no surprise to me that you picked that up straight away :) You are right – I am a walking paradox, as most people are – you said it so aptly when saying that I have secrets (nothing dramatic, I just like to keep things to myself) but that I am a very open person at the same time. Sometimes I confuse myself with the contradictions!

The first shot is meant to be all about illusion. I took that with my camera held at chest height, angling it up towards the mirror – I am holding a set pose there – I wanted to look as if I was sizing myself up in the mirror, as if I was trying to gauge my femininity... does that make sense? Lol Probably not! But yes, that’s why I chose that particular quote. It is just so true. With a lot of people I know, I wonder if I ever see the true person or if I just see a carefully constructed illusion most of the time...

Thank you so much, you got the second photo in one as well. I was trying to look stunned, stiff, and neutral... to blend a bit more into the surroundings but use more shadow and tone to make me almost look like a cut-out... to give emphasis to how darn uncomfortable it can be to feel on display... the mirror plays a huge part in this set, as it’s used in the first two shots.

Hehehe the blur is my hand shaking as I held the camera up to take the shot of my head... I wasn’t sure what angle I was going for, but just wanted to get my hair in and not my face... no crop done, just a close up with a shaky hand – I was surprised by the way it turned out and liked it because it says a lot about me without having to really show me at all.

Lastly, I am so happy you like the poem! You’re the only one thus far to comment on it, so I wasn’t sure how well it was received and whether people realise it was me.

LOL it may well have been the longest comment ever but it’s so insightful – clearly we are on that same wavelength because you picked all my intent up so aptly and articulated it exactly as I did in my head as I was conceptualising it. It’s rare for someone to understand me so well.

xoxo

p.s. so now, I present to you, the longest reply to the longest comment ever! hehehehe
