Dec 26-28: The Simple Things in Life…

2008.12.26

Dec 26: Woke up and was caught eating leftover turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing and mashed potatoes for breaky. In all honesty…it felt like lunchtime to me and I was hungry! Window shopped on Queen West with Tara for most of the day and then had a chance to see my friend Bjorn’s new pad. Absolutely lovely…felt like I had stepped into a house in London. The funniest part of the day was when we were at a shop in Kensington Market. Some dood dressed in a Russian fur hat and a fur coat meanders in and asked whether the shop sold fur jackets. There was no fur to be found in the store…not to mention it was a girly store with lots of accessories, bags and dresses. Hysterical…

Walking through Marie Curtis Park (I think this was the name of the park…)

Dec 27: Tara took me on a drive through parts of the city that I hadn’t been to before (Marie Curtis Park and High Park) and eventually we made our way to the AGO. Not before stopping to admire some Freitag bags along the way. Two hours was not nearly enough time in the newly reopened AGO. I think I would need a few repeat trips just to absorb all of this. But I was certainly impressed…

Afterwards, I went and met Lil for dinner to catch up on a year’s worth of stories…and there were lots of them! By the time 9PM rolled along, I was tuckered…still on European time, it felt like 2AM. Sadly, I had to go snooze…

(L to R) Marie Curtis Park; A sign that I saw on Queen West and Ossington; Urr..okay…”ROOMS FOR RENT” sign with a naked guy on there…; Just outside the AGO; Henry Moore’s “Two Large Forms” outside the AGO; Inside the AGO…super lovely…

Watching life pass by as we sat inside Clafouti’s across from Trinity Bellwoods Park

Dec 28: Breaky with Lil and then tea in Kensington Market, followed by a visit to one of my favourite places in To…the Distillery District with Bjorn. Then it was dinner with Jenn and Steve who stuffed me to the gills with turkey, mash, veggies, cranberry sauce, stuffing and I cannot remember what else. Also after about 10 or so takes, all 3 of us eventually put on semi-normal faces to take a photo…Then they eventually had to roll me out the door…

(Kensington Market with Lil; Coffee with Bjorn at Balzac’s in the Distillery District and dinner with Jenn and Steve)

Eat. Drink. Visit with friends. Meander aimlessly. Sleep.

That’s about all I did during those few days in To and I enjoyed every one of them thoroughly. Life doesn’t get any better or simpler than this…
