Eva Marisaldi-Pixeland (2005)
I had a great time photographing this little piece that I really, really liked. I was lying on the floor trying to photograph these teeny tiny little ceramic pieces and a security guard comes up to me to see what I was up to.
So I showed him the photos I was taking and he started to give me directions on how I should photograph this. After about 5 minutes, I finally captured what he saw in his mind. With a satisfied smile, he said, "Great!" gave me a thumbs up & walked away:) And here it is!

Dong Tai Market
I don't think there was anything that you could NOT buy at this market place. Posters, furniture, cameras, wash basins, just stuff, ya know?!
There was a little tin box that I loved, but the person wanted what would have translated to be about $20USD. For a little supposedly "antique" tin box? Ummmm...no thanks. There was so much of the same stuff at each shop and they were all supposedly antiques...I'm not so certain about that. But here's a small sample...

Well...how did this happen...a clear view of Pudong without a person in sight...trust me, this lasted for all of a fraction of a second for me to take this photo. Wow...I guess I'm lucky sometimes:)

Skywalk on the Pudong side. I suggest this side of the river, for a slightly calmer view of the city.

I have no idea what a steamed "BUM" tastes like, but I can definitely recommend the xiao long bao at Nan Xiang restaurant. I recommend going upstairs and snagging yourself a table to enjoy these with a beer:)

Shanghai...I'm still not sure how I feel about this city. It certainly wasn't my favourite city. Overwhelming would probably be the best word. The hordes of people surpassed even Beijing (for me at least), mostly b/c Expo was happening.
I am so thankful that I gave Expo a miss. My brother gave possibly one of the the longest rants in recent memory of how this was such a joke. There was a queue to get into Expo, then once inside, queues to get into every pavilion. We're not talking 10-15' queues in 30+ degree weather...we're talking a few hours. Then apparently skirmishes broke out and everyone was just hungry & angry. Fantastic. Then he started on a good long rant about how sparse some of the pavilions were...that's when I put him on speakerphone, & went for a cup of a tea and a snack:)
Some people at my hostel had to go back a few days in a row b/c they only got to see 1 or 2 pavilions in an 8 hour day. Although one person from Belgium said that she had the best Belgium fries ever...after waiting for 3 hours. Uuummm...no thanks!
I just did my usual random traipsing of new cities, exploring random streets & alleyways, which is so much more entertaining. I saw some really great art at MOCA & M50 and met some Canadians and even got to practice my long forgotten French!
At this point, I had been on a steady diet of all Chinese food for well over a week and was starting to get a smidge sick of this. Yes...it can happen. So I'm thankful that there were more coffee shops in Shanghai and I could just have a simple soup or salad.
Soooo...enjoy these photos of Shanghai, as I saw it in my short visit:)
