Love (or Hate) Letters...

Typewriter & letter set-up by Radix Theatre at FUSE (Vancouver Art Gallery)

I was at an event the other night & Radix Theatre had this little performance that tickled me in many ways.

You could tuck yourself into a little confessional booth to dictate your words to someone who will type it up & even send it off in the post for you. They can be words of love/hate /indifference to anyone. I suppose what really grabbed me was the use of old-fashioned typewriters and (*gasp*) snail mail in this age of instant gratification with smart phones, social networking, etc. There's just a certain level of nostalgia & loveliness about the whole thing.

Of course I wanted to dash with the typewriter on display...but considering I'm a member at the Vancouver Art Gallery, probably not a fantastic idea. So I leave you with some love quotes to contemplate on a gorgeous sunny cold Sunday morning (for me at least)...Enjoy;0)

I was always hungry for love. Just once, I wanted to know what it was like to get my fill of it — to be fed so much love I couldn’t take any more. Just once. ~ Haruki Murakami

Out of the millions of people we live among, most of whom we habitually ignore and are ignored by in turn, there are always a few that hold hostage our capacity for happiness, whom we could recognize by their smell alone and whom we would rather die than be without. ~ Alain de Botton

Time was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on. I hope you never have to think about anything as much as I think about you. ~ Jonathan Safran Foer

To fall in love is easy, even to remain in it is not difficult; our human loneliness is cause enough. But it is a hard quest worth making to find a comrade through whose steady presence one becomes steadily the person one desires to be.
~ Anna Louise Strong

Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. What about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. ~ Iris (The Holiday, 2006)

I always have this fear that one day you are going to discover that I’m not as great as you once thought I was. ~ Unknown

Pray that your loneliness may spur you into finding something to live for, great enough to die for. ~ Dag Hammarskjold

It’s a strange thing, how you can love somebody, how you can be all eaten up inside with needing them—and they simply don’t need you. That’s all there is to it, and neither of you can do anything about it. And they’ll be the same way with someone else, and someone else will be the same way about you and it goes on and on—this desperate need—and only once in a rare million do the same two people need each other. ~ Madeleine L’Engle
