155/365 - Boys & their Toys

2008.06.05

Just a quick snapshot for today....just had too much else going on.
As a bit of fun family-time, we took the kids out for some dinner & late-night shopping to a big toy store. Ryder wanted to run riot, as usual, but all-in-all they had fun & got a toy each.
This was Jacob's....some kind of mutated-Alien-crab-thing.
So pretty..... :P

My pondering for today:
Will I ever be able to shop down the Barbie isle?
Will I ever be able to justify looking at doll's houses, tiara's and Polly Pocket?
I'm so used to navigating my way to the cars, trucks & monster Alien figurine section, the girl section seems like it's not even connected to the store for me, like it's one of those roped-off sections, only available to those with a girly reason to look in there (if I'm caught by my boys in that isle I'm the butt of jokes for the next half an hour, until they start mocking each other as to who Mum was going to buy for).
I pondered all this while walking along as my boys ran ahead of me tonight. I hardly even glance at those pink isles anymore, except for occasionally when we've taken a wrong turn in a new store.

Sometimes I think I may get a chance this time around, after all my chances should be theoretically 50/50, right?
Hmm....with 3 boys already, I find myself believing my chances are allot slimmer then that *grin*.
If I was a betting woman, safe to say I'd bet on blue. I catch myself daydreaming about the tech saying "It's a Girl" (we're definitely finding out at the U/S if bub co-operates)...but then I shrug myself off, no way. It's so not going to happen to me.

My obvious must-add....Baby Boys are awesome & I love love love them. The way they giggle, the way they are soooo fascinated with gross, icky sticky gooey stuff or insects always makes me laugh as much as groan. Their clothes are finally getting cuter to shop for, and they loooooooove their Mumma's & adore their Dadda's :-) A baby boy would be no less precious, no less snugglier, no less loved. He would fit into this house like a a piece of a puzzle.

In conclusion to my long-winded pondering (sorry, that got way outta hand!)... I think I'll just continue pondering -- to myself, I'll spare you *wink* -- and enjoy the not-knowing for now, because once I know, there won't be any more daydreams over who I'll be holding at Christmas time :-)

ambersunsets What a sweet post. It is kind of fun not knowing. I had two boys before I got my girl, and I was sure I was having another boy.

How much longer before you'll know?

dhulsmeyer I hope you get your girl. Daughters are treasures and I'm lucky to have 2 extraordinarily pretty, smart and talented girls.

PaperWings Oh I completely understand. Although I love my son, there is room in my heart for a little girl as well! :)

jameswaters there's no reason you can't go find a toy for a girl, perhaps a proper girl's toy for yourself even! ; - )

jameswaters i'm not 100% up on the biology (though I ought'a be) but I'm pretty sure that it's not a 50/50 probability... that there actually are plenty of environmental and probably even genetic/biological factors that can bias the sex ratio.
