There was a medieval fayre happening at the castle on the Saturday, and although we intended to only have a quick look around the town in the morning, we ended up staying here for most of the day.

We all took part in a drumming workshop, John played a bass drum (very nicely too, I might add) he even ended up in the local newspapers.

James played on the Big Bass Drum, and I got to play a Bodrhan. It was great fun, when we had all mastered our instruments, a piper came and we did a song all together, it actually sounded quite nice.

The next two nights we spent in Kilkenny, it is a beautiful city with two cathedrals, a castle, and several streets lined with restaurants and pubs, most of which had live music, we stopped at one pub and listened to 'The Kilkennys', 4 local chaps who were very good.
The Kilkenny Cats were playing Tipperary in the All Ireland Hurling final, and there were yellow and black flags and banners everywhere and a great atmosphere around the town. We enjoyed our stay in Kilkenny very much... (The match was yesterday and Kilkenny won, by the way)
