These are the feet of a very strange dog.

I thought I'd give her this buffalo soup bone a lady at a farmers market bullied me into buying and that she'd dig into it & claim it as hers. She licked it.

And left it for me.
|
Clearly I knew she wanted it so I shut her in her kennel with it & left the room. Then she went at it (a little) but was still totally willing to give it back to me.
|
She also loves balloons, You might have seen this. And every single other dog in the world. She will ignore any treat if there is another dog around. She loves to wake my flatmate up in the morning and say hello. She likes to drive & jumps in the back seat when she thinks its time to get out of the car. She's annoying on short trips but sleeps for hours on long trips.

She eats brownies off the table. And Fudge. She chases squirrels & thinks cats are the best things in the world. She's tall but can fit under a 6 inch gate and through a cat door.

She let me torture her with this present (peanut butter included). She'll wait quietly for her dinner but needs to wrap herself around my legs when I'm cooking for me. She brings me toys & chews on sticks. She doesn't mind getting her nails trimmed. She likes carrots, a lot. They are the only things she will nudge my hand for.

But then she loved it. Happy - Last - Day - Being - Under - A - Year - Old - Arabella. She demands Belly Rubs and looks out of windows. She is unafraid of thunderstorms but hates going out in the rain. She munches grass - like a lady - she picks each individual blade and only eats the top bit. She's so skinny that when she turns toward or away from you she disappears and she has almost no fur on the inside of her legs & her belly.

She carries socks around in her mouth & whines. She buries things in the furniture, carpet, bedspread but never the dirt. She dug through two kennel pillows & now only gets blankets. She chews her toys with her front end on the couch and her back end on the ground. She sits in front of the door to go out. Not the front door, the closet door. Not the closet door by the front door. The closet door in the living room. Arabella has the figure of a ballerina, she had a eating disorder, she's gained 3 lbs in the last 6 months. But has the grace of a baby taking its first steps - watching her wipe out is hilarious.

She likes to sleep under the covers but not just under the covers, under the covers and in the circle of my legs. She's in love with frisbees. You're thinking - these are all very normal dog things Silka - why is your dog the strangest dog in the world. It's the way she does these things. I swear.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY ARABELLAAAA!!!!!!!!! I loved it when Mum read all those things about you out to me. You sound like such a cool and interesting doggy! I wish I could meet you one day. Oh - and that buffalo soup bone - yummm!!!! You can send it over to me if you don't want it! hehe
