Water Water Water Part I (After The Flood)

2011.03.14
pixel
Ice chunks and the debris lay everywhere.....the wood splinters laying with the ice were once trees....
pixel
This place seems to have some of the neighbour's property from up river ......

I noticed this shoe sitting by itself on top of the ice..... ( the other shoe was floating on a piece of ice down furthur)
pixel
It's melting.....

Blocked road.....This is three streets up from the riverside road....
pixel
The River crested and the worst is over......flood damage is minimal.....but that mud is sticky and stinky.....The water reached as far as the main road in this little community along the Grand River. There will be some cleaning up to do......but all the homes are still intact! Flooding happens every year along the Grand River. Low areas and riverside communities are the hardest hit. Many cities along the river have built dikes. The worst flood hit in 1974 causing extensive damage and broken dams in many places along the River. Many lost their homes and business and some lost their lives.....

Ryana For me (who lives in a country that rarely has to deal with natural disasters), all of this seems so unrealistic...
