Day 198 - Back to the flood

2008.06.21
We came across a dead snake on the way home, and since I'm so sick of purely water pictures, I took a few shots.

Mother and her new teeth. You can tell they don't feel right to her, but I imagine she'll get used to them.

If you remember previous pictures of this street, you'll see its gone up quite a bit.

This as well.

Probably pointless, but oh well.

With the water comes the trash.

You might also remember pictures of the train tracks, before they were submerged.

I'd wager it'll be inside the fountain pretty soon.

You can see the floating picnic tables back there, I found that amusing.

I'm not sure why this is here.

A few days ago - what was it, two? - you could see the grass here. Now you can see the ducks enjoying a swim!

Further on down front street, by South Side Boat Club and the factories.

SSBC got completely ruined in the flood of 1993. You can barely see the roof of their storage shed down by where the original building used to be.

That white tin roof sticking out in the center of the picture is the one I'm talking about.

Yea, I know, I promised. This kid loves water or something. She's never seen a flood before, and she gets bored very easily, so she usually wants to go to the park or the river. As you can see, it keeps getting higher. They say the crest will be tomorrow now but I don't know if I believe it.

Todays featured art is: "Stars 2" by Valeriemonthuit.
