メキシコ北西部ソノラ州の司法当局は３０日、信仰する「死に神」に生き血をささげるため、１０歳の少年２人を含む３人を殺害したとして、カルト教団の幹部ら８人を逮捕したと発表した。グッチバッグ骸骨の姿をした「サンタムエルテ」を祭るメキシコ特有の信仰だが、このために人が殺害されたのが確認されたのは初めてという。 発表によると、８人は２００９年から今年にかけ、生きている少年２人と４４歳の女性の首を切って血液を集めた。大きな鎌を持ち、ローブをまとった骸骨の姿の「サンタムエルテ（聖なる死に神）」を祭る祭壇の周辺にまいたという。
