Ah Paris

2007.12.05
Jardin des plantes. Such a pretty little garden I had never visited. I went and saw a deep dea exhibit that had the actual bodies of the fish with my friend Ben. Science nerd heaven.

La defense, the buisnes district. Its part of the grande bvd but not in my opinion actually located in the city. This is right off the metro, a pretty little sculpture garden with neat statues from a south Korean artist.

La grande Arche! The modern take on the l'arc de triomphe

According to Sophia: Arc slightly off center with the Grand blv. 5 degrees. Why? Because of the metro underneath? To show thats its almost a perfect cube? We may never know. Four people died during its construction. ITs make of "nasa glass" that wont warp. Its pretty impressive.

My company? Aurore!

This is my school. Striking. The students have shut things down almost completly in some schools.

I think they just like to write on the walls. The problem is that the french system right now is supposed to be "equal" as in they all recieve the same funding (which is almost nothing, because the tuition is basically free) and have no admissions process. Sarko wants them to be able to seek private funds, which would cause a leveling of the universities even more then the little that they are. This worries the humanities types who think all the funding will go to the math and science types.

Welcome to my art class. This was the art gallery hopping day. And this is meat hanging from the ceiling.

Street art found on the street. Body parts coming out of the walls.

This my friends is the grand blvd. in Paris. The Champs! At one end you can see place de la concorde with its ferris wheel that marks the start of the tulleries. Its lit for Noel, with beautiful lights that "drip" down the trees.

Cooking classes in Printemps! Atelier des chefs is the best

And even better when your old roommate brings a friend from Berlin and does it with you! Tucker wasnt here for 10 minutes before he cut himself and bled on an onion, and Ben his friend in red was actually a vegetarian but I think funw as had by all.

Cemetary of Montparnasse

Sartre is under there!

Beckett what are you doing here?

Things I've been up to in the last few weeks, in fact in my last few weeks IN paris!
