Here is what they call Luminaria bags lit for the evening ceremony. Each bag has the name of a survivor or Cancer victim. They also line the track with these light bags. It is a very moving ceremony and quite emotional.
If you ever have an opportunity to attend a Relay for Life I would suggest it to you.

I am a team captain for our Relay for Life team from my workplace. I am also on the planning committee as the ceremonies chairman.
For those that know about the American Cancer Society - Relay for Life, ours will be at the end of May 2008.
The event is a 24 hour period where we walk a track for the support and raising money for cancer research. We set-up tents and have entertainment around the clock and raise money for the cause to research cancer cures.
Relay for Life is an amazing thing...I am part of it every year...and I love it when I find out about other people doing it in other parts of the country!
