The Lacaille 8760 Affair:: Day 104

2008.05.02
just another day at the office.

change it up, go black and white.

Oh you know me, sometimes I just like to get us thinking about life in color.

I got some sad news today, my boss has taken a new job at another school. While I'm ultimately very happy for him, it's going to be hard to have to learn to work with someone new. Clearly the best replacement would be my best girl Kat from back home, but that's just some wishful thinking ~_^

Other than that, nothing too exciting going on today. I had lunch with my buddy Lee, who I hadn't seen since early last week on account of her going to the Cochella festival, to which my envy knows no bounds.

It tooks me an hour and a half to get home tonight, which was incredibly unbearable. I live BARELY 8 miles! EIGHT!! Insane.

Nick and I went out for a night on the town after dinner which included browsing around Ikea, drinking Starbucks coffee and spending $30.00 at the $1.00 Book Store. Obviously, we have a book problem. We're going to need more book shelves immediately.

On the way home we drove through a whole new section of Glendale that just opened up and to my great and wonderful surprise...saw a glorious becon in the night....a sparkling new H&M...shimmering in all of it's wattage...glowing as though it were shrouded in angel wings. I can't wait to go there and spend my ENTIRE pay check on a new wardrobe. Alas tonight it was a wee bit chaotic, not to mention 10pm. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside just knowing it's there, waiting for me, like the faithful Penelope waiting for her Odysseus.

That's about enough out of me.

Until tomorrow.

Cheers.

Breezer M.

Peche ‘It is not the form that dictates the colour, but the colour that brings out the form.’
-Hoffman

I love these shots. I like the differences between them, not just from the colour perspective, but from the tonal ranges and shadows that change... to me, even black and white are colourful.

Sorry to hear about the move your boss will be making. We’ve been through a LOT of change in my job and it’s really very hard. I’ve had three different bosses in under a year myself. Losing someone you really admire and respect though, that’s a totally different thing. Let’s hope the new person possesses some of those qualities to make the transition a little easier :)

Cochella Festival? Sounds interesting... I may have to find out what it is!

An hour and a half? How did it take that long?? Gosh that is soo incredibly annoying after a long day at work!

I’m jealous of you spending $30 in the $1 book store :( I want books too!! Lol :P What did you get?

OMG... now, I know this commentary is all over the shop, and probably makes no sense, but... you have H&M!!!???!!! NO WAY!!! I love that shop, but we don’t have it here – the only time I’ve seen it and been in was in Germany, back in 1999, and it’s massive there. Please, when you go, can you take photos?? :D And I will need to see all that you buy!!

xoxoxo

focussed perhaps while at ikea you should have bought a new bookcase AND a new wardrobe to hold all your new clothes ;) We will of course require copious amount of photos f your new purchases once they have been made!
I probably dont need to tell you my preference between these two shots. I love b&w.but for some reason I can NEVER go past your color photos. That says much about your style I think..Do you think you have a style? Do you think it will change once the new baby comes along??!

joycephotography Great post. You really need to change the color of your writing since it is hard to read. I only say this because I enjoy ryour posts.

PhySpi No such thing as a book problem in my world, buy them all I say!
One can never read enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

PaperWings Oh dear. H & M. This only means trouble.

I know you spoke of other things in your post, but as a lover of H & M I totally had tunnel vision and now that is all I can think about. Go...Go Bree, and spend for me. Oh how I long for the day when Chattanooga will have it's own store, but until then it looks like I must live vicariously through friends like you.

I havent been to one since December when I was in NYC, and it was pretty hectic and late, also. I didnt feel I was able to take in the full joy of the experience because of that. i almost feel cheated... I did, however, walk out the door with a fabulously huge blue bag.

ps- am sorry to hear your boss is leaving. It's just a hard transition and can totally change the environment. I will believe that it's going to be a good and positive change in the long run.

enjoy the weekend, sweet cheeks!!

Lynda Lovely shot. Looks good both ways.

aurian *grins at the thought of spending so much money in a $1.00 bookstore like that*. Yep, very much something that would happen around here too (especially in the case of my other half!).

What sort of clothing does H&M do? :)
aurian · 2008-05-03: 19:48
ncshutterbug Whoa, wait. New baby? Have I missed something?

I'm such a non-girly-girl that I had to Google H&M to see what it was. I betray my gender by the fact that I hate shopping. If you want to torture me, make me spend a Saturday at the mall. This fact was a great disappointment to my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. :)

I love the color shot - such nice colors, and the flash of pink in the background is such a nice touch.

I hope your job changes work out well. It's very scary indeed, but sometimes things work out better than you expect.

LotoFoto Oh I hear you on the traffic!!!
My friends & I had tix to Jimmy Kimmel last Friday.
We left Santa Monica an hour & 15 minutes before we had to be there... just to drive 15 miles!! 15 !!!!
We didn't get in :( If we had arrived maybe 10 minutes sooner we would've. Oye!)
Oh & I like the color photo best! Great shot :)
LotoFoto · 2008-05-04: 00:02
ambersunsets Like Tracy, I zeroed in on the H&M also. What I would give to have one in this area, or if they would just open up online!
Great shot. I prefer the color:)

Sorry about the new boss thing.
