The Lacaille 8760 Affair:: Day 108

2008.05.06

I appologize for my tardy post, yet again. I know how I went on and on in my 100th post about making time for photoblog, but there hasn't even been time to make. I swear that there are less usable hours everyday!

Anyhoo, last night ("today") Nickel and I went out for a night on the town. In order to meet up with him after work I RAN to the house, took two steps at a time (out of excitement), threw on a dress and pranced my way down to the metro.

Of course, my excitement was put on hold since the train, that I had run in heels to make, was running 30 minutes late due to a "technical difficulty" at Universal Studios. So I stood in the subway station looking pretty for a half an hour. It was a pretty good time.

I finally make it to the concert hall were I pick up my beau and get off to dinner at what instantly became his favorite new resturant. About a block from the concert hall, Pastagina, the fast food pasta eatery, had just opened. He had gone there the day before and raved at it's deliciousness and reasonable prices, so we figured it would be a good informal, but still fantastic meal, so start off our little date.

After dinner, Nick took me on a wonderful tour in and around the buildings, gardens and Starbucks' that surround the concert hall. Although my feet were killing me by the end, it was well worth it to have such an enjoyable time walking around and taking in the pretty cityscapes and the soft and invigorating scent of jasmine flowers. Not to mention the good it did us to walk off all the pasta we had eaten prior!

We of course ended the tour back at the concert hall in time to stop in and chat with his co-workers for a few minutes before the show started.

The program for the concert was Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No.4 in A major, Op.90 and Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.1 in D major. The performance featured a guest orchestra called The Philharmonia Orchestra and world famous conductor, Cristoph von Dohnanyi. It was truly fantastic.

On the way home, we had a second railway inconvenience as they were power washing one side of the track. It's nice to see that they take such good care of the metro here however, so I didn't mind the wait, even though my feet may have been in a slight disagreement there.

By the time I walked in the door, it was nearly midnight and seeing as I get up for work at 5:45, I didn't have the capacity to post.

There ya have it.

Cheers!

ncshutterbug Sheesh. You're off having a fabulous time, looking absolutely gorgeous (both of you!), being all cultural and stuff - without giving us a second thought.

How great of you to do so. It's as it should be. :)

I love reading your commentaries, and your photos are wonderful, as usual. I especially like the one of you and Nick. You're such an adorable couple. Congratulations on having such a great night out - I know you've been missing each other lately.
