Day 7 - Preparing our gardens

2008.05.06

These leaves represent my wildflowers.

We had t level off the end of the fence line. We worked about a half maybe to do this.

We picked up the big rocks, to keep them from ripping the black paper we were preparing to lay down.

This is a metal heel that we found while leveling the back section.

We finally finished. I placed some of my larger pots along the side of the house, about eight or so.

We are going to be placing stepping stones down the center of the path.

The end of the 3 yards of stones finally comes to an end.

The end of the 3 yards of mulch.

We set out to dump the trimmings and old mulch off at the recycling area around the corner of my block.

We had placed a good portion of it on a tarp, so we could just pull it off.

This is the grinder for all everything that comes in. They grind up the trees into wood chips that people can take for free.

My neighborhood used to be completely Italian, so, several of the homes still grow grapes on these trellises.

These are all of the kids who worked very hard.

This is Marshmallow, our dog. He is out front right now to enjoy all of the visitors. By the way, he came with that name from the SPCA, and it suits him really good.

With the job complete, the kids take off to youth group.

We hired some of the members of the youth group to help us move the pea stone and mulch. They are raising money for a big event that is coming up this summer. They worked about 2 1/2 hours. They did a great job. Needless to say, our backs really appreciated their help, that would have taken us half a day to do it alone.
