Crayola Crayon Factory- Easton, Pennsylvania

2008.10.21

Okay, it is not the real factory, it is a play factory for children. It has lots of index cards, photos, and products in showcases that are no longer available.

This is the packet you get at admissions. The coins are to "purchase" things with. I am not sure what, because I gave mine away to a little boy.

This is a floor- the checker pieces are probably a good foot around I'd say.

An entomologist discovered a new Katydid and named it the Crayola Katydid, because of its many colors. I thought this was cool.

There is a room where they make crayons right in front of you. Then everyone gets a free one, and you get to wrap the paper on yourself.

There are demonstrators that make crayons right there on the spot. They project it onto televisions for people to see the detail work better.

There are lots of work stations. You can build hats, etc.

Each station provides step by step instructions for the craft.

These displays were made by customers and put behind class.

This room has two screens, one on each side. People can stand inside the room and dance or move and their shapes appear on the wall in nice brilliant colors. This picture doesn't do it justice- too hard to capture with a camera.

oldbabe Oh, how interesting! I always wanted a box of 64 crayola crayons with a sharpener on the side, but we were too poor. I bought some for the granddaughters though!

Looks like a great place to take the kids or those young at heart!

kimauman That looked like a lot of fun--even for us grownups. My favorite color was periwinkle! Oh and the silver and gold ones that came later!
kimauman · 2008-10-23: 22:04
????? Nice colorful post! Me too -- loved the color and the word "periwinkle." Still do! :-)
