X-Games: the first ever... and I was there :)

The EXTREME GAMES, now known as the X-games, had their first edition in Newport and Providence (both in the state of Rhode Island, U.S.A.).

I was in New York then, for a short vacation, in the peak of my inline skating fanatic phase.
My purpose was to investigate what was happening in the U.S. in terms of inline trends, buy new gear and get in touch with N. Y. groups, nothing special...
One morning, in my hotel room, I was reading some complimentary newspaper and... there it was, in the front page: "For the first time ever, the Extreme Games... they are meant to be the Olympic Games of radical sports!"

So I called my friends of the travel agency, made a few changes to my schedule... and soon enough was happily driving across some very small states till Newport!

There, you had the contrast of the usual rich retired old americans and the unusual invasion of RAD young sportsmen and women from all over the world... the ambience was fantastic!
