Does this set of images make any sense? Probably not… just like February 29!

2008 is a “leap year” because it has one more day (the 24th of February, but that’s another story) called “leap day”.

People born the 29th of February are therefore called “leaplings”!

But, what happens to them in common years? Do they have a birthday? No… so is it fair to give them one more year in their age number?

They may celebrate it the day before (February 28) or the day after (March 1) but it’s not the same thing! It’s not really THEIR birthday.

So, how old are they?!

In the meantime, as I was gathering information for this text, someone told me that many parents of kids born today register them as born Feb. 28 or Mar. 1!! :(

Now that is an easy way to escape my question!

So, birthday girls and boys, do YOU HAVE THE GUTS to do what you must? (and now I am talking to all of you who had your celebration yesterday – Thursday the 28th – or that will celebrate it this Saturday – that is March 1, of course)

OK, so go to your parents and ask them: “Mum! Dad! I want to know if I was really born this day? Or was I a “leapling” and you registered me wrong?”

Don’t give up! You are entitled to the truth about yourself!

But the worst was yet to come: I heard that a friend’s wife, who is in her final days of labor, is postponing her Caesarean to next Monday because she wants nothing of this “leapling” situation!

So, in this instance, a fake date in the register was not sophisticated enough! The truth must prevail! Best wishes for the mother and child! :)

Im sorry cabecilha im a bit lost today, not sure about my age anymore, plus ,,flipado made me discover im a teen so why shoudl i worry about a thing like my age??? From now on ill worry about more serious things as if my sunglasses are modern enough to go out at night or about what my friends comment about me when im not,,it is important cos if they dont comment it means im not in, so gotta find somethign spectacular to fit with my new teen look quick ;) wish u find a leapling too, im sorry flipado discovered me first ;) TIM927 · 2008-02-29: 14:40

good question... i know a person who was born on 29th feb.... she was my aunt's teacher she has passed on but she use to celebrate big on a leap yr with all her students... her fav line is " i get to stay as sweet sixteen for four years when i am actually in my 60's " ...... tgmanjunath · 2008-03-01: 14:01
