Angelica Theater!! @ Mockingbird Station, Jess!!!!
We got to meet Smith & Lee, the designers for the title sequences in the following movies (links to youtube videos for reference):
*Thank you for Smoking
^^(Fun fact about Juno OP: They got this effect by doing a physical cut-out of a xerox of a photo of Juno, hand colored it, and animated it.)
*Up in the Air
(Mirny, this is kinda scary-ish-- click at own risk)
So they did more stuff and you can see most everything on their website here
. They're amazingly talented. And hard workers! They seemed to have never taken the easy route. But they get some really unique and beautiful results by doing most of the work by hand. I was inspired.
If I haven't mentioned it, they're really cool and oh! there's a HUGE legal deal behind title credits, did you know?? It kinda hinders the design, so they can "break" the rules by asking each person who's name is shown if it's ok to have their name a different percent size of the main title if they need to.
Man, I learned a lot! It sure is interesting and amazing how well they do it, but I'm not quite sure that would be something I'd be doing. Sure does make me appreciate learning our motion graphics class, though!
There's so many levels of complication... phew!
All in all, I had a great time. I got to talk to Jenny Lee because Gareth Smith was busy and she was very nice! I'm a little upset that I forgot to ask if I could take a picture with her >:T
It would have been awesome. >>:T
Still, really loving this DSVC thing. *u*
