I don't know exactly how I started, but it was because I had a cool fountain pen, a $3 small, bounded sketchbook (which is pretty good for a 4"x6" 110 page hardcover one) and I picked up a style I actually liked to do over and over because it's simple.

So these books (I'm on the 3rd one) are full of these kinds of doodles. Situations that happened in the day, thoughts of a few things that I've encountered and mostly, just a way to practice setting up quick cartoons for situations that seems particularly interesting to me.

There's more, but some of them are a little more specific and would need further "in"formation. I think these are a little self-explanatory if not, a bit funny out of the real context.


Oh wait! I remember now! How it started. I was going on my first plane ride ever to Jess' house for Thanksgiving break on that first semester away from home and wanted something to do with all the wait/discovery. I found that the pages weren't quite so big enough for an elaborate sketch and the fountain pen had some heavy strokes that pooled a bit if not handled correctly. Detail was out of the question. Everything is pretty loose, and I make a lot of mistakes that I just work with. It's great practice.
