Il n'est pas 'arty'!!! Je le traduis, very, very badly:

Very funny and very moving.
You did ask! These French persons! Mon dieu! Send them back where they came from. On second thoughts I'll go instead. I like France.

What does humpty dumpty mean? Nice pictures of the animals! Pretty duck!
My title for this page should be Travis Bickle. Played by de Niro in Taxi Driver. Sorry about that.

Several times. With your beautiful French accent. Until a look of glee appears on his face.

Ah! Degrés te fallent
Indolent qui ne sort cesse
Indolent qui ne se mène
Qu'importe un petit d'un petit
Tout Gai de Reguennes.

Ainsi, humpty dumpty is English for 'Un petit d'un petit'. I can't be clearer than that.

Irrelevant footnote: Gai, of course, was a young squire who died at the tender age of twelve of a surfeit of Saracen arrows before the walls of Acre in 1191.

terryl No, I can't mend watches, I've taken a few to pieces but never been able to put them back together. Have you had a proper watchmaket look at your watch? It may be something simple they can fix not too expensively. If they could you could use your grandfathers watch by your bed - I have seen a simple stand that you can hand a pocket watch on for this purpose. Much better than an electronic clock.
