June 26: For WHAT?

2007.06.26

Gavstar saw a unit for sale. He rang up about it and it sounded really good (too good to be true, almost). It was a 3x2, air con, front and back courtyards, two living areas, and only $595! It's not available until early July, but that's OK - settlement takes at least that long.

We arranged an immediate inspection. The agent cancelled another appointment so he could show us through. We were very appreciative, and hinted that for an apartment under $600, we were ready to sign on the dotted line.

Upon inspection, we were busy telling him the courtyard was too small for our dog...

("what kind?" says the agent
"a goldie," say we.
"indoor or outdoor? asks the agent
"he's part of the family - indoor when we're home!"
"oh," says the agent, with a worried look on his face)

... then we got to the question about "why are the owners selling?"

"the owner's not selling," says the agent.
"what do you mean?" say we
"this unit is for rent," says the agent.
"oooohhhhhhhhh," say we.

... then, "ooops!"

Today I am thankful that we can laugh about embarrassing situations.
