July 2: Sush Train Overdrive

When I collected a friend and her teens from the airport, I was thrilled when the first (well, second... no, more like 14th) words out of her mouth was, "is there a sushi place nearby?"
We raced to a sushi train in town and proceeded to pick our way through the delicacies that I don't normally get to enjoy -- because a) Gavstar doesn't like it and b) Asian restaurants rarely stock gluten-free soy sauce. Teen boy wolfed down a whopping $40+ worth of sushi - about as much as the three girls combined. His pile of plates measured a foot high. We considered various ways to reduce the pile - eg by distributing the plates frisbee-style around the restaurant, or popping the empty plates back onto the train. But in the end we 'fessed up to the fish-frenzy and coughed up.
Today I am thankful for sushi binges, even if the soy sauce isn't gluten-free and I do have to spend the afternoon in bed.
