July 7: Feeling Lucky

'Seven' is considered the lucky number. I believe this categorically, especially since I did extensive research on it for my book, "The 7-Day Chakra Workout", in which I explored the phenomena of ‘seven’ and its prolific influence in our lives.
For example, to see first-hand the prevalence of this number, ask the person nearest to you right now to pick a number between one and 10. Chances are they will choose the number seven. Various studies invariably find that between 70 and 80 percent of people choose seven as a ‘random’ number.
I felt lucky when I opened my mail to find a little card saying, "If you have received this card then it has a message for you please sit quietly and the message come to you (sic)"
It was anonymous. Of course, if I put some thought and effort into it, I could track down whoever sent it to me. But I like knowing that I was sent a random (or deliberate) reminder to listen for messages, and that in itself is enough for me.
Anyhoo, I sat and listened for a message. Within the hour I was in the Busselton hospital screaming with pain and being administered morphine.
8mg of it.
Needless to say, I spent the rest of the day on flights of frivolity and and stardusted trails. Doctors and nurses came and went, as did phrases such as "kidney stone", "ovarian cyst" and "ectopic pregnancy"...
Today I am thankful for the lucky number 7 which delivered a verdict of "ruptured ovary". It could have been so much worse.
