August 24: Squirrel Synchronicity

Say "Squirrel Synchronicity" five times fast...

Boy Wonderful walked the dog to meet me at the Post Office this afternoon. On our walk home he told me about a strange experience during his walk to meet me... he'd walked past a lady at the bus stop who was frozen in her pose of looking at her mobile phone. Then he'd walked past a driveway where a dog had been frozen in his pose staring at passers-by. He said it was surreal, like he was the only one alive in a world frozen in time.

I suggested that perhaps he'd been drinking too much energy drink, like the squirrel in "Over the Hedge", and that the rest of the world was moving at normal time but he was the one that had really sped up.

About three steps further on, we turned the corner and what did we see sitting on top of an electrical box?

A toy squirrel.

We BOTH took a step back, then laughed ourselves silly. "This could only happen to us!" we laughed. "Of all the random toys to find abandoned on the street, this one had to be a squirrel."

We'd never even seen a toy squirrel before, and now here was a brand new looking one, facing us, with his arms up to say HI!

"I've stopped being surprised," said Boy Wonderful. "I've even lost count of how many times this kind of thing happens."

Today I am thankful we are open to synchronicity, coincidence, serendipity, and above all, laughter.
