Oct 25: Happy Trails

Walked to Gavstar's parents for lunch, to help them finish the massive leg of organic pork that I got in exchange for my old laptop. Ahhh, I love that barter is still alive and well (as long as you know where to look).

I walked along their lane today which finishes up in their cattle yards. In the distance I could see the pad being laid for Gavstar's sister's new house. I wonder how long we'll be able to hold on to the land as "farmland" when housing and vineyards are popping up all around us?

I also noticed that the dung beetles are out now. I remember a few years ago they didn't get active until after Xmas, by which stage the flies had all bred and reached plague-proportions. I was never a fan of beetles until I realised what a valuable job they do!

Today I am thankful for everything I learn just from taking a simple walk.
