Jan 2: Voodoo in Portland

Hit the road today to start Part 3 of our holiday -- a road-trip down the 101 on our way to Los Angeles.

Made it as far as Portland OR, but only had enough time to visit ONE local attraction: Voodoo Donuts!

Every single local we spoke to, from the bellboy to the concierge to the taxi driver all said "oh yeah, good choice!" when we told them we were heading there. Then they all gave us their personal recommendation for their favourite doughnut -- from the "cock and balls" to the "bacon maple", this 24-hour hole-in-the-wall doughnut joint had to be seen to be believed.

Pity we've already renewed our wedding vows -- for only $25 the Voodoo Doughnuts girl would have "married" us in the restrooms.

Today I am thankful we know some locals who gave us the "inside word" about this deliciously quirky place.
