Jan 4: It was a dark and stormy drive...

The drive from Lincoln City to Gold Beach down Highway 101 was wild and stormy. It made for spectacular viewing, but the travelling was understandably slow.

The closer we got to Gold Beach, the darker it was getting, and the WILDER. Boy Wonderful started making up stories about driving into a storm. It involved love monkies and honey bears (both were "Adopt-a-Highway" sponsors we'd seen on the roadside signs), but I'm not sure how we got them involved with the gloomy horror story that evolved.

Today I am thankful that telling stories (no matter how gory) made us feel safer!
