Jan 6: Lazy Tourist

Gee, it only took a few days of road-tripping for Boy Wonderful to work out the lazy tourist's way of sight-seeing... from the inside of the car.

We started a new game today, to counteract the scams and rip-offs we've been encountering during our journey. This game is called "The Ultimate Scottish Stunt" and involves thinking of ways to be TIGHT, in order to beat the "system."

The inaugural scottish stunt took place at the "Old Faithful Geyser" in Napa Valley... Rather than pay $8 per adult + $4 for a child, we sent BW in on his own to record the geyser on his video camera. Mission accomplished, saving us a grand total of $16. We found a coupon in a tourist mag later that would have saved us a further dollar, so we still have some work to do to achieve maximum scottishness, obviously.

Enjoyed a late-night dip in the hot springs at the hotel after dinner.

Today I am thankful for the quirky fun that can be had for very little ;-)
