Headed back to Venice this evening for a stroll along the boardwalk and to show Boy Wonderful some things that we didn't have time to see last night -- eg:
- the beautiful murals that adorn many of the walls
- muscle beach (which is now paved - last time i was here the workout equipment was in the sand)
- the basketball courts where "white men can't jump"
On one of the murals -- the one with Aphrodite on rollerblades -- I pointed out an image of a dude on rollerblades playing the electric guitar.
"Boy Wonderful," I said, "that dude was here when I was here 14 years ago, and he's been here for many years before that -- he's a local legend; he's even appeared on many movies set on Venice Beach."
"yeah right," he answered diplomatically. "How does he play an electric guitar without a power supply?"
Trust BW to come up with such a logical question to a fantasic story....
Moments later, we heard the riii-ruuuu of an electric guitar and sure enough, along comes the roller-blading legend of Venice Beach -- Harry Perry.
BW was speechless. He was so dumbstruck he even forgot to ask (or investigate) the mysterious power supply.
Today I am thankful I got to witness the look on BW's face when he realised his Mum wasn't spinning a fantasy tale!
