Jan 18: Our First Lime!

My bro and his partner ("bro-in-law") planted a lime tree in our garden this time last year. They "farm sat" for us while we were away this xmas, and were very excited to inform us that the tree has born its very first lime.

We were having a sundowner on Gran and Gramps' verandah last night when bro-in-law rang to check whether we'd picked the lime yet. The conversation went something like this:

B-I-L: "Have you seen the lime yet?"
Gavstar: "Yeah, it's a little beauty!"
B-I-L: "I think you should pick it - it's ready."
Gavstar: "Naaaa, I think it's got a little while to go."
B-I-L: "No, I really think you should go and pick it."
Gavstar: "I'll have another look at it when we get home."

Anyhoo, as soon as we got home from drinks, Gavstar went out to the garden and I could feel the house shaking from his laughing. The pic shows the "lime" -- a moldy old lemon with a coat-hanger hook through it.

We've hung the "lime" in our kitchen as a reminder of good friends.

Woke up this morning to our "other son" at our window... he seems to know we're home! ;-)

Today I am thankful to be surrounded by such loving family.
