I learned a big lesson today... DO NOT FEED CHOOKS ANYWHERE BUT IN THEIR COOP.
You see, I thought it'd be romantic to have chooks pecking their way around the soon-to-be garden and patio so I fed them outside the kitchen window. Bad move -- now they roam the verandah and poo all over it, and perhaps worse still, they happily help themselves to Blaze's food bowl AND HE LETS THEM.
So today I have a sore throat from TRYING to teach Blaze to bark at the chickens any time they step foot on the verandah.
Also had a go at starting an avocado tree today, from scratch. Last time I suspended a pip over a glass of water I suspect the 6 inch nails that Gavstar embedded in the pip may have been unhealthy for the pip's growth. So this time I invented a new suspension system using rubber bands. Fingers crossed this pip will grow roots. (It should, providing I even have the pip up the right way!)
Today I am thankful there are new lessons to be learned every single day ;-)
